Sew Hope Community Sewing Room

Class Description

Our mission is to give back to the community through the work of our hands. Will you join us the 1st Wednesday of each month for our FREE charity sewing sessions from 1pm - 4pm. * Make new friends * Strengthen your sewing skills * Give back to the community * Enjoy knowing that someone will benefit from what you created through your hands. Ages 8 and up are welcome to join our charity sewing sessions. Each month, we select a local or international partner to support. One month we may sew caps for cancer patients, zipper feminine hygiene care bags for young girls, cloth menstrual pads for girls in Africa, pillowcases for the unhoused, baby burp cloths for newborns born without much. You don't need to be a perfect sewist or a skilled professional, but you do need basic knowledge on how to operate a sewing machine. There may be some projects where we can utilize non-sewists, to help with cutting, ironing or assembling; but the majority of our projects require some sewing knowledge. Suggested Supplies: At this time the Sew Hope Community Sewing Room will provide fabric and supplies for our charity sewing sessions. This is due to the generous fabric and sewing notions by the community -- so please keep the fabric, zippers and thread coming so we can continue distributing it to the community. Can't sew, or don't have the time to sew but want to help support the mission of Sew Hope? Consider becoming a monthly donor to the Sew Hope Community Sewing Room (See our Make A Donation Page). Your $5.00 or $20.00 a month helps so much! Charity Sewing Schedule: June 5 - Krinkle pads for Santa's Helpers July 3 - Baby doll blankets for Santa's Helpers August 7 - Sew any remaining precut items for Santa's Helpers (blocks, krinkle pads, etc.) [SH begins distribution to social workers in September] September 4 - Adult blankets for JFK Clinic at Mercy
